Our Story

Daniele and Kate at Pudsey Christmas Lights Event

Founded in 2021 by Kate Frazer and Daniele De Lissandri, The Music Box is a registered Community Interest Company serving the local community in Pudsey, West Leeds and the surrounding areas.

Kate and Daniele, felt there was a gap in music based provision in the area so they decided to start a beginners guitar group for young people and adults (led by Kate) and a DJ group for young people (led by Daniele). After a year of trading as a not-for-profit business, The Music Box was able to apply for local funding and began offering other music based projects and has quickly become a cornerstone for the local community of young people, families and adults.

The Music Box has extended it's offer locally and now runs a variety of groups, courses, projects and events in Pudsey. You can view these above in our Groups menu.

In 2023, The Music Box represented Pudsey in the Leeds 2023 Year of Culture and became the anchor organisation where they established Fuse Festival which brought together people from Pudsey, Swinnow and Tyersal for a week long music and arts festival. This has become their flagship annual music and arts festival which will run in July 2024.

The Music Box enhances it's offer by working in partnership with other organisations such as Leeds City Council Youth Services, Leeds Music Education Partnership, Pudsey Well-being Centre, White RoseAcademies, St Andrew's Methodist Church, Pudsey Community Project, Barca, Pudsey House, Breeze Leeds, local primary and secondary schools and many more people and artists.
